NIPF Anti-Doping Policy

The NIPF fully accept the World Anti-Doping Code issued by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The NIPF is affiliated to the Great British Powerlifting Federation (GBPF) and in turn the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), which is recognised by WADA under the Alliance of Independent Members of Sportaccord (AIMS).

The following are the fundamentals of the Code, which can be viewed in full on the WADA web-site. The purpose of the World Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Code which supports it is:

  • To protect the Athletes' fundamental right to participate in doping-free sport and thus promote health, fairness and equality for Athletes worldwide and to ensure harmonised, coordinated and effective anti-doping programmes at international and national level for the detection, deterrence and prevention of doping

    • Anti-doping programmes seek to preserve what is intrinsically valuable about sport. This intrinsic value is often referred to as "the spirit of sport". It is the essence of Olympism and how we play true. The spirit of sport is the celebration of the human spirit, body and mind and is characterised by:

      • Ethics, fair play and honesty
      • Health
      • Excellence in performance
      • Character and education
      • Fun and joy
      • Teamwork
      • Dedication and commitment
      • Respect for rules and laws
      • Respect for oneself and other participants
      • Courage and Community and solidarity
      • Doping is fundamentally contrary to the Spirit of Sport.
